Karlyn Lothery

Founder

As the Founder of Lothery and Associates, Karlyn brings with her more than 15 years of communications and diversity training experience, and a passion for coaching her clients to communication excellence. Beginning her professional career as a news-reporter/anchor in Charleston, SC (WCSC) and Augusta, GA (WRDW), Karlyn covered business, crime, education, healthcare issues and a variety of sports. After leaving television, she moved behind the camera to help executives, athletes, and other public figures become confident and poised spokespeople for their respective organizations.

Karlyn has assisted over 1,000 clients and has developed more than a dozen different highly-interactive courses related to public speaking, presentations, executive communication, media management, strategic social media messaging, cross cultural communication, and diversity. She has served corporations, non-profit, law firms, utilities, sports, and government agencies in all of these areas. Karlyn strives to create a fun-natured yet impactful work-relationship in a safe environment. And whether coaching people to face tough media interviews, or simply be more appealing in campaigns or presentations, she is committed to helping you craft your most powerful communications message.

Karlyn is an adjunct professor at her alma mater, Georgetown University and was honored as one of The Network Journal's 40 Under Forty Most Dynamic Professionals for 2009. She also serves as the Co-Chair of Making Strides for MS, a young professional's board, for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's National Capital Chapter, and is a member of the Greater DC chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). A lover of dogs, sports, and travel, Karlyn resides in Alexandria, VA.
